(Hybrid) Second Workshop for Lesson Study 2.0:
Unplugged Computational Thinking in APEC Economies
24-25 November 2024
On the Era of Generative AI, the project proposed by Thailand and Japan promotes the Education to develop computational thinking (CT). Here, CT is the ways of thinking for problem solving which includes using Generative AI on Natural language. Since 2006, Japan and Thailand have been engaged in APEC Lesson Study project in relation to APEC HRDWG Education network issues and established APEC Lesson Study Network. It also co-proposed with Chile (2019) and Malaysia (2020). It produced the Curriculum Reform Recommendations for CT in APEC (2021) through overcoming COVID-19. This workshop planned on these bases.
First Online Workshop on 18 April 2024 was hosted by University of Tsukuba, Japan. Objective was to promote the educational actions in APEC region to unplug CT at Primary School Level.
Second Workshop (Hybrid) on 24-25 November 2024 which will be hosted by Khon Kaen University, Thailand, as for the promotion and implementation of Lesson Study for CT.
This workshop aims to build upon the materials and lessons introduced in the First Workshop's "Unplugged Computational Thinking" booklet developed by the Lesson Study Network members from Japan, Chile, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Presentations and lesson study activities will focus on how to effectively integrate these unplugged CT activities into primary curricula across APEC economies. Participants from APEC economies will be recommended through the HRDWG Education Network focal points. This project supports the shared APEC goal of promoting equitable, inclusive and quality education by introducing innovative methods to develop CT skills essential for the digital age, even in environments with limited computer access.
